November 22, 2020 Maroon Solar has WITHDRAWN its application! These solar projects CAN be defeated.
Strata Solar on Friday afternoon pulled its application to build a utility scale power plant in Culpeper County, a week after the planning commission scrutinized, then denied, the request and neighbors intensely opposed it.

That’s great to hear. Keep fighting the fight to protect valuable agricultural land. We are fighting Next Era/Gulf power in the panhandle of Florida trying to put in 868 acres solar plant with 90 percent of the land is USDA prime agricultural land with the remaining land farm land of importance or water.

We all need to congratulate and celebrate the Citizens for Responsible Solar and Susan Ralston for all of the time and hard work that resulted in a win for the local residents, at least for now.
This win along with every win, should give hope to many other groups that are working together all across this planet, (at least in the countries that are still a democracy), to fight and protect their properties from these invaders.

They already had a solar ordinance... so that is probably what protected them.

We don't have an ordinance yet, but we're going to work on one

it’s says the current solar ordinance said solar is limited to 300 acres. I’m just curious because ours has no regard to solar accept allowing it on woodland ... go figure

We have a "policy" not an ordinance, which doesn't have any teeth. It is a guideline that the Board can choose to disregard. We argued: why have a policy if you're going to ignore it? It has taken a long time, almost 2 years, for the Planning Commission and the Board to understand that industrial-scale solar isn't agriculture.

ahh okay. I’m so confused by our situation. Our zoning committee says we have to allow for it. They have to amend the ordinance to allow solar on ag land. And they’re so afraid to be ‘overly restrictive’
We have 5000 acres under lease in our county, the smallest county in the commonwealth of PA.
