Proposed 1,000 acre Solar Project on Prime Farm Land in Michigan

The 100-megawatt solar farm in MICHIGAN is being developed by NextEra Energy, a Florida-based energy infrastructure company. 

Marshall Township has been considering the Cereal City Solar Project for more than a year, said Paul Anderson, zoning administrator for Marshall Township. Residents have been concerned about how the project may change the landscape of the area. 

"Part of that has to do with that it changes what you look out your window and see," Anderson said. "The planning commission had to go through and make that decision. But the difference is going to be that instead of having farm fields there, there's going to be solar panels, and that's a hard thing to swallow for people that live in that area."
