Denise Spooner, Can you explain why when solar companies come into an area, one of the first thing they do is apply for a "tax abatement"? What exactly is a "tax abatement"?

Let me add to my question. Since the Solar Company is leasing property, the land owners are still responsible for the property tax. What kind of "tax break" does the solar company get? Anyone?

I think they get an exemption from the tax on the equipment.
