EDF Renewables: Tye Lane Solar Farm

Post by samzfairyz »

EDF Renewables recently announced proposals of a 65 hectare (see end) solar farm along a countryside road called Tye Lane. This is the main road leading into a village called Flowton, that only a few weeks earlier had an announcement of a 98ha solar farm by Enso Energy.

ALL of the EDF press releases, brochures, website, presentations etc stated 65ha, and that the panels would cover approximately half of this. However during a parish meeting they presented at, an older presentation they used stated 82ha. This was spotted and they were caught out. It was embarassing watching them try to argue around this misleading information. The total site area is in fact 82ha. The sections set out for panelling inside it are 65ha. Gaps between the panel rows account for half of the 65ha. They were caught red handed and have since been trying to cover all their tracks!

Make sure the area stated is the full site area, and not just what is being covered in panels!

Our group called CARE Suffolk is working to oppose this: http://www.caresuffolk.org.
