WELL SAID! THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT ON RECORD!!! You are so right. Like you, we are for responsible solar, BUT INDUSTRIAL SOLAR is dangerous to our state because of food-producing farmland being TAKEN OUT OF PRODUCTION and SMOTHERED by metal panels. There are also potential health hazards and NEGATIVE IMPACT on our ENVIRONMENT

I am against the Onion River Solar Plant project - primarily because it will be placed on prime farmland and is not the "high and best use" of the land.

Our family heritage farm on Smies Road has been in our family since the original Dutch settlers arrived in the mid 1800`s. So as you can imagine, this area is very special to our family and many others. Our farm, while no longer an active dairy farm, is leased by a local dairy farmer and provides vital land for growing crops. Many farmers depend on the ability to lease land. This does not include solar "farms."

Solar energy can be a useful form of generating electricity - most beneficial for off-grid applications or literal/virtual islands. If an industrial solar plant is necessary, it should be sited on brown land, waste land, roof tops, etc. But it will need to be backed up due to its intermittent and unreliable nature - especially in Wisconsin!

This solar plant will not be a convenience and is certainly not a necessity to the area. The long term environmental and economic negative effects are not worth it.

Respectfully,
Moira Davis
