Examples of Financial Facts Needed For Commissions
Example #1: If anyone has an example of a lawsuit that was filed against a leaseholder, town or county, even if the leaseholder, town or county won the lawsuit, please post any details you can find, because every lawsuit will cost the defendant money for lawyer fees and can be used as examples of costs to the city, county or private leaseholder.
Example #2: Share any examples of money paid out by by a county or state in higher utility rates for their offices, or money paid to repair roads damaged by the heavy equipment used to build a solar project, or special equipment or training for fire departments so they can handle solar panel fires.
Example #3: Share any example of businesses that have closed or laid off workers due to less farm productivity, such as truck/tractor repair shops, a farmers Co-Op that distributes chemicals and diesel, seed companies, or even local part-time seasonal drivers that will have less hours of work, etc.
Remember, for every dollar that is not paid to a local resident, that is less money paid in sales tax, less state and county tax coming out of wages, etc.

Two lawsuits were filed against Pulaski County, Indiana, on or about September 22, 2020. One against the BZA, the other against the commissioners. County officials have estimated the initial costs at $30, 000. The county approved the use of CARES Act money to cover these costs. The county hired Barnes & Thornburg to represent them, at a cost of $580 per hour. 10 individuals filed the lawsuit.

That is exactly the type of information we need to share with local boards that do not see or care about people, because their only focus is on the financial figures in the county or town budget.

I agree. Our boards/economic director had not even considered the financial loss to the county, both direct and indirect, caused by removing the 4511 acres from crop production. At a recent meeting, our ED decided they would spend another 3000$ to add this study to the economic study. Many non participating homeowners will also move and have stated so.

After sitting in and listening at county meetings, I have come to the conclusion that the members don't know or care about the residents. They have their heads buried in the documents, looking at figures and as long as they can spend opm, (other peoples money) they are more then willing to write as many checks as they want. Then when the money gets short, they will invited another salesmen that is willing to promise big financial payoffs, in return for destroying the county and chasing more long time residents away.
