"The soil needs to rest" is a common claim made by solar developers to try and convince you that their development will help the land. In some cases it may be that the soil needs better management, but mostly it's just trying to overshadow the fact that the land is high quality agricultural land which (at least in the UK) they shouldn't be building on.
Our soil and agricultural expert has pointed out some key inconsistencies between the facts and the claims.
